The Pigs marched down to the great man Kevin Bartlett's oval to take on Richmond Central on what can be described only as a typical autumn day in Melbourne. No one knew if it was going to rain or shine, the wind was swirling and gusty at best and this worked in the pigs favour as we had the slight advantage in the first quarter. Some slick work in the midfield and forward line saw us kick 5 goals to open to an early and deserved 3 goal lead going into quarter time.
Richmond responded in the second quarter by picking up their intesity but the razorbacks had most of the answers by dominating general play all over the ground an only restricting the home side to 4 shots at goal converting 2 with the wind but we squandered our opportunities by falling apart across the forward line, dropped marks and poor kicking resulting in a measly 5 behinds and disappointingly going into half time with a lead of only 9 points.
The third quarter saw much the same as the second quarter as we were winning the ruck clearances, the hard ball gets and tackles for the quarter but our delivery into the forward line and decisions when kicking for goal again kicking 2 goals and another 4 behinds from some very makeable positions. Richmond came home late in the third, bagging 2 goals 1 in a generally windless quarter that saw the dominance of the game from Swinburne have them going into the final quarter with a lead of only 12 points.
The final quarter saw Richmond gain the upper hand, especially in the midfield after the wind picked up and blew hard at the home teams goalposts. Two quick goals saw the Tigers hit the lead for the first time in the match and the Pigs did not respond. An uninspired and deflated Razorbacks did not pick up their intensity and let the home team run away with the game more than doubling their own score in the last quarter alone to run out 36 point victors. The Pigs were utterly disappointed with their effort and coach George Koumantatakis was furious at the way we gave up after Richmond challenged us.
It is unfortunate that the Razors will be facing bottom team Chadstone this week as we are expected to win by at least triple figures and the players would be more encouraged to improve their performance against a better quality opponent.

In almost a reversal of the result from the ones the reserves managed to kick straight and double their score in the last quarter. Well done goos'.
