The ones started out with both sides showing great skill early on with big Jimmy winning the taps but the Mt Lilydale midfield winning the clearances for the quarter. Mt Lilydale hurt the pigs the most from the very few turnovers that occurred by kicking very straight and going out to a 6.1 to 1.0 lead in the first break.

Swinny had no answer for the slick skills of the Lilydale side, that was using the home ground advantage to great effect. 4 more goals to 2 had the pigs licking their wounds from the first half and 7 goals down at the half way mark saw a huge task to come back.

Unfortunately for the boys, a hard fought third quarter didn't reap the benefits as were needed with poor disposal into the forward line really hindering the sides chances. Mt Lilydale counter-attacked with great precision to put the game out of reach for the away team going into the last quarter.

The match opened up in the last quarter with both sides adding their best quarters for the day, swinburne kicking 3.2 and Mt Lilydale 7.5. The boys fought hard to the end and brought in an under 100 point deficit which probably was an exaggeration of the difference between the sides performances. We look forward to the boys bouncing back next week with a win to consolidate confidence in our structures and to build on the experience we have gained from this weeks match.

The reserves took the bus up into the hills in the far reaches of melb on what was looking to be a great day until they reached the ground. There they encountered a heavy fog and morning dew that threatened to linger all day, but 5 minutes before the game was to start, the fog lifted and a ideal day for football ensued.

The pigs got out to a great start by controlling the centre corridor and all major stats in the first quarter alowing only a single point to Mt Lilydale at their home ground, compared to the swines 3.5. A quick fire three goals from Tom Kennedy in the first and second quarters showed he was out there to enjoy Swinburnes dominance until he landed awkwardly in a marking contest, ending his day. Captain Kitch was in the thick of the action as well early on until he too succumbed to injury in the second quarter, leaving only two men on the bench. This didn't affect the play on the field a great deal as the half time scores saw Mt Lilydale still goaless and Swinburne had gone out to a seemingly un-assailable lead.

The second half saw Mt Lilydale come out firing and they quickly put their first goal of the match on the board however Swinburne retaliated with high tackling pressure and stemmed the flow, kicking 3 goals for the quarter and pushing the lead out to over 8 goals going into the final change.

The game opened up quite a bit in the final quarter as both sides began to tire, and 5 late goals to 2 saw the Magoos take home the bikkies in a great team effort.
